Rogers Scholars Ambassadors celebrated the holiday season by giving back to the community collecting canned food items and new or gently used coats for families in need. Ambassadors wrapped up the “Spirit of Giving” campaign a few days before Christmas with a live radio remote, broadcast on K93 Country WSEK, from the lobby of The Center for Rural Development in Somerset. Participating in the event are, from left, Ambassadors Molly Merrick, Pulaski County; Kala Means, Wayne County; and Stephanie Lawless, Laurel County; back row, from left, Clear Channel radio personality Jeff Henderson, Amy Puerto, Pulaski County; Jon Preneta, Jessamine County; Scott Stephens, McCreary County; Clint Ray, Clinton County; Nicolette Coontz, Lincoln County; Adam Handy, Pike County; and Jessica Melton, youth programs coordinator for The Center. The food was delivered to God’s Food Panty, a community outreach program in Somerset, and approximately 82 coats will be donated to student and family support services in the Pulaski County School District to be distributed as needed to students and their families. Clear Channel and Toyota of Somerset were program sponsors.
